Recently SARPRA were approached regarding various issues at a residential park. It was discovered, during discussion, that the residents read their own meters and took the meter readings to the office for processing. This park had what is termed as an "embedded system" a system commonly used in caravan parks, where the owners of the park charge residents for their electricity and residents are tied to the energy retailer selected by the owners. In the larger residential parks, residents have their own electricity meter and can purchase their power from any of the energy retailers.
We have posted information relating to the obligations and requirements for residential customers in parks using an imbedded supply system. There are two documents, energy exempt sellers and another containing information on buying energy from an exempt seller and your rights and protection.
